Front Panel Pros was called upon by Be Green Solar to produce panels for a large solar power project in Jérémie, Haiti. The system provides reliable AC power to the medical and dental clinics as well as other buildings and functions within the hospital compound of the Haitian Health Foundation.
The system was such that there were no commercial, off-the-shelf control products that could be used to switch the various power sources on and off.
Front Panel Pros created this custom control panel for the system, based on a design from Be Green Solar.
The device controls all AC power from the photovoltaic panel array and the stnadby generator to all circuits in the compound. It provides a central control point for all power.
At night, the compound draws power from a large set of storage batteries. When the sun returns, it recharges the batteries and provides AC power for all clinics during the day.
The sun is the primary source of power, which is derived from 148 solar panels, mounted on the roof of the main clinic building.
Here is the power generated and used on a typical day.
Earlier in the program at the Foundation, Front Panel Pros was asked to provide panels for several special battery chargers that had been modified for use in the Haitian system. The panels made had to be lettered in French and English.
